New box truck expands Westminster’s reach and impact

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! Westminster Neighborhood Services has a brand-new box truck, made possible through the generous support of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis and in partnership with Gleaners Food Bank. This new addition to our operations will significantly increase our ability to serve neighbors on the Near Eastside, allowing us to pick up larger donations and expand our impact in real time.

We were also able to purchase the truck from our valued community partner Exodus Refugee, making this upgrade an investment that supports another impactful local organization.

For years, our team relied on a van for donation pickups. While it served us well, it limited the size and quantity of food and resources we could transport. The new box truck changes that. In fact, within days of putting it to work, we were able to accept a full pallet of watermelon, a donation we would have had to turn away before.

The truck’s lift gate is also a game-changer, ensuring the safety of our staff and volunteers when loading and unloading heavy items. This means we can bring in more food, more often, and get it into the hands of neighbors faster and more efficiently.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, Gleaners Food Bank, and all who made this possible,” said Olivia Stewart, Westminster’s Director of Neighborhood Services. “This truck is more than just a vehicle; it’s a tool that allows us to meet more needs, say ‘yes’ to larger donations, and ensure our volunteers and staff can do their work safely. We’re already seeing the impact.”

We also want to recognize the talented team at Killer Wraps for designing and creating the beautiful truck wrap. Their work has turned the box truck into a moving billboard for our mission, spreading awareness wherever it goes.

This investment in our capacity means fewer missed opportunities, more food on tables, and a stronger, more responsive Westminster. We’re ready to meet the growing needs of our community!
