A Year of Showing Up: What You Made Possible at Westminster

As we close out the year, we’ve been reflecting on what it truly means to show up for a community. At Westminster Neighborhood Services, it means opening our doors again and again. It means greeting neighbors by name. It means making sure families don’t have to face hard seasons alone.
This year, because of the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and partners, Westminster was able to meet real needs for thousands of neighbors across Indy’s Near Eastside and beyond.
Reaching Neighbors Where They Are
In 2025, Westminster served neighbors from 50 unique zip codes, including 18 new zip codes. That means our reach expanded into new parts of the city as more families sought support for food, essentials, and stability.
Thousands of Neighbors, Countless Moments of Care
Over the course of the year, Westminster served:
5,845 individual neighbors
2,108 households
Many neighbors came to us more than once; because consistent support matters. When you include repeat visits, that adds up to:
27,885 individual visits
9,748 household visits
These numbers represent parents picking up groceries after work, seniors accessing food they can rely on, and families finding reassurance in knowing they’re not alone.
On average, each household visited our pantry five times this year, a powerful indicator of trust, consistency, and ongoing need.
More Than One Door of Support
For many neighbors, Westminster isn’t just one stop. It’s a place they return to for different kinds of support.
This year, an estimated 2,300 neighbors accessed multiple Westminster programs, such as the food pantry, soup kitchen, and youth programs. When you count every visit across services, that equals 10,060 moments of connection and care.
That means families weren’t just receiving food; they were finding community, stability, and wraparound support that met them where they were.
Volunteers Who Made It All Possible
None of this happens without volunteers. In 2025, 412 unique volunteers gave their time, contributing 7,375 hours of service
Even more meaningful, 119 first-time volunteers came back for a second shift. That tells us something important: when people experience Westminster firsthand, they feel the impact and want to return. From stocking shelves to serving meals to supporting special events, volunteers are the heartbeat of our work.
What This Year Taught Us
This year reminded us that:
Need doesn’t disappear after the holidays
Families rely on consistent, dignified support
Community is built through relationships, not transactions
It also reminded us how powerful generosity can be. Every donation, every volunteer hour, every shared meal helped create a year where thousands of neighbors felt supported, seen, and cared for.
Looking Ahead
As we step into a new year, one thing is clear: the need for consistent, compassionate support in our community isn’t going away. Families will continue to rely on Westminster for food, connection, and stability all throughout the year.
Because of you, we were able to meet neighbors where they were in 2025. And with your continued support, we can keep doing that in the year ahead.
A year-end gift to Westminster helps:
Keep our food pantry and soup kitchen stocked and accessible
Support families who return again and again because they trust us
Expand programs so neighbors can access multiple forms of care in one place
Ensure our doors remain open to every neighbor who walks through them
If this year’s impact inspires you, we invite you to be part of what comes next.
Make a year-end gift today and help us continue showing up for our neighbors: one family, one meal, and one moment of care at a time.
Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for believing in the power of showing up.
