We are delighted to announce that Emily Nelson has joined Westminster Neighborhood Services as our new Executive Director, beginning July 28, 2025. Emily has served as Board Chair since early 2025 and brings deep roots in the Near Eastside community, having been actively involved with Westminster for over five years.
Emily brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, communications, development, and strategic planning. Most recently, she served as Engagement Manager at Mapt Solutions, where she guided organizations through the strategic planning process, ensuring they achieved high-quality outcomes aligned with their mission. Prior to Mapt, Emily was the Executive Director of Grants Management and Project Implementation at Ivy Tech Community College, overseeing statewide projects and compliance for multi-campus grants. Her background also includes key roles at Early Learning Indiana and Complete College America. Across each position, Emily has demonstrated her ability to connect people, ideas, and resources to advance meaningful change.
With degrees in journalism from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master’s in philanthropic studies from the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Emily combines storytelling expertise with a deep understanding of nonprofit impact. Outside of work, she enjoys biking, live music, and fostering rescue animals through Indianapolis Animal Care Services.
Emily’s leadership reflects a steadfast commitment to strengthening connections and impact. She has been instrumental in advancing programs that embody Westminster’s vision: nurturing inclusive youth initiatives, meaningful volunteer engagement, and expanded access to vital services.
In her new role, Emily will guide the implementation of Westminster’s 2025–2028 strategic plan, ensuring that our mission—to build hope, opportunity, and belonging—continues to flourish.
Join us in welcoming Emily to her new role and celebrating the bright future ahead for Westminster and the community we serve.
