Food Pantry Assistant

Westminster Neighborhood Services is a non-profit organization that serves the Near Eastside community.

  •  With the Family and Adult Services Director, provide support for all Westminster Neighborhood Services Pantry activities.

  •  Coordinates and oversees the logistics of monthly food pick-ups

  • Help donors unload donations for WMS from their vehicles. Fill out proper forms for documentation of what is donated.

  •  Inventory, sort, and store all food and hygiene donations and place them in the proper area.

  • Cleans and maintains the refrigerators and freezers. Checks and logs temperatures three times a week per board of health.

  • Projects food needs and where shortages will occur and communicates with the Family and Adult Services Director's needs.

  •  Stock the shelves and ensure adequate food for clients' days.

  • Mop floor and wipe down dining room tables at the end of Pantry operation. Clean public bathrooms after each pantry.

  • Prep for Soup Kitchen, including making coffee, getting out items needed, and turning on equipment needed for the day.

  • Assist in all pantry prep activities, including receiving, picking up, unloading, sorting, organizing, and rotating products.

  •  Keep food storage areas organized and clear of trash and clutter.

  • Clean office area weekly.

  •  Other duties assigned by the Family and Adult Services Director.

  • Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am-2:00 pm and occasional Saturdays.

Summer Youth
Program Assistant 

Status:  Part-time, Hourly 

Reports To: Youth Services Manager 

 

This is a part-time, seasonal summer position with varying shifts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Build relationships with students through daily conversation and quality interactions.  

  • Help students develop social and conflict resolution skills and create healthy friendships.  

  • Provide opportunities for students to participate successfully and enjoy all aspects of the program experience.  

  • Be a trusted figure who is consistent, fair, and follows through when redirecting behavior.  

  • Organize, lead, and manage groups and individuals in planned activities.  

  • Help to keep a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.  

  • Assume responsibility for the health and well-being of the students entrusted to your care.  

  • Actively supervise students during all aspects of the day, including arrival, departure, field trips, meals, academic enrichment, program partners, transitions, and play. 

  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

Qualifications 

  • Must be a high school graduate.  

  • Previous experience working with children that have prepared you for this role.  

  • Can confidently organize and lead large groups of children in activities with an ability to think on your feet when things don’t go as planned.  

  • Be a self-starter and can jump in without being prompted 

  • Must work well with diverse populations.  

  • Committed to the mission, vision, and core values of WNS. 

  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a criminal history/background check and drug test. 

 

  

Summer program runs from 7:30AM-6PM.Shifts will vary.

Youth Program Assistant
