Youth Services

Westminster’s Youth Services Program seeks to provide programming that provides a safe, nurturing environment which reinforces and enriches academic skills, teaches social skills, encourages good citizenship, develops leadership traits and provides activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle for children ages 6-14.

Afterschool Program

Westminster’s Afterschool Program ensures each child has a safe, nurturing, enriching, and exciting place to spend time after traditional school hours. The Afterschool Program gives students a daily opportunity to complete homework assignments and review with program staff to ensure comprehension and completion. Kids also participate in inclusive, team building recreation activities, engage in hands-on enrichment activities, and enjoy a warm, nutritious dinner.

Afterschool Program students enjoy hands-on enrichment activities with Westminster’s many partner organizations and participate in an array of activities that include: arts enrichment, cooking, nutrition, and fitness, poetry, drama, and scouting opportunities to name a few. Every month, students go on field trips which promote learning and social bonding with peers.

Summer program

Westminster Youth Services Summer Program works alongside students to combat summer learning loss, which disproportionately affects children of low socioeconomic backgrounds. Students in Westminster’s Summer Program engage in organized, age-appropriate academic activities like reading, math, and STEM each week.

In addition to academic time, students enjoy a wide range of other activities that encourage learning and healthy lifestyles, such as swimming lessons, trips to local libraries and participation in summer reading programs, exploring local nature preserves, physical fitness, nutrition, and healthy cooking classes, gardening time, and activities focused on children’s social and emotional development. Westminster also provides three meals to students daily.

Students go on field trips that supplement learning and provide students an opportunity to explore, Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, and surrounding areas.
