Food Pantry Numbers are Rising

“The cost of food is too much and sometimes we don't have enough money because it's too high…our kids will go hungry”

The first week of July, Westminster saw the highest number of people come through the food pantry in one day in over two years. 105 families sought food assistance, and we continue to see large numbers coming to the food pantry as SNAP benefits don’t stretch as far as they used to, and some pandemic relief benefits have expired.

One mother who came to our pop-up pantry at the Spades Park Library has six children, including a one-month-old baby. As she was getting food, she mentioned needing diapers as well. We signed her up to receive diapers from us monthly and helped her find other community resources.

As food costs rise, we're also feeling the effects of inflation, and our pantry budget can't buy as much food as it did before. If you'd like to help us feed more families, please consider a donation.
